Gardens and Climate Change: The 1st Regional Conference in Palermo

On June 7, the Lanza Hall at the Palermo Botanical Garden will host its first Regional Conference titled "Gardens and Gardeners: Green Care and Climate Change." The event is organized by the “Area del Patrimonio, delle Politiche Ambientali e della Transizione Ecologica” of the City of Palermo in collaboration with the University and Botanical Garden of Palermo, with support from leading industry companies, the “Associazione Direttori Tecnici Pubblici Giardini”, and the “Associazione Giardinieri Palermo”.

The conference, aimed at professionals, university professors, technicians, nursery staff, administrators, entrepreneurs, and sector companies, will provide a platform to discuss crucial issues such as future climate scenarios, the urban environment, operational safety of public spaces, tree management in cities, and functional landscape design.

These topics will also be the focus of a presentation by Paolo Viskanic, CEO of R3GIS, who will add an innovative perspective on green interventions aimed at ensuring a better quality of life in cities, where over 70% of the world's population resides. Additionally, the latest innovations in the management of public green spaces will be discussed. His presentation will take place in the sector companies' slot from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM on Friday, June 7.

This conference presents an important opportunity to address the challenges and opportunities related to urban green management in the context of climate change, promoting an integrated and qualified approach to improving the quality of life in our cities.
