Bolzano, April 27, 2026 – R3GIS successfully held its Scientific Advisory Board meeting at NOI Techpark, bringing together leading international experts and researchers in urban forestry and environmental sciences to review ongoing research and define the next steps in the evolution of GreenSpaces.
The meeting gathered representatives from institutions including the University of Florence, University of Milan, Politecnico di Milano, EURAC Research, CISMA, Myerscough College, Insitut für Stadtgrün in Berlin and Bayerische Landesanstalt für Weinbau und Gartenbau, alongside the R3GIS team.
The objective of the session was to present the latest research and development activities, validate scientific methodologies, and collect structured feedback to further strengthen the scientific foundation of R3GIS solutions.
The agenda of the meeting included:
An overview of ongoing R&D activities and projects in R3GIS, like Biobox, Talea and Treesmart
Ecosystem Services modelling methodology and extension of the algorithms to new species and climatic zones.
Water balance and irrigation modelling
Tree Risk Analysis based on historic data, meteorological data and Artificial Intelligence.
Tree species selection for green infrastructure and AI chatbot integration in GreenSpaces.
New regulatory frameworks to consider in the development of GreenSpaces.
From scientific validation to product development
The Scientific Advisory Board plays a central role in ensuring that GreenSpaces remains grounded in validated scientific methodologies while addressing real operational challenges faced by cities and public organisations.
All feedback collected during the meeting will be systematically analysed and translated into concrete development actions. The objective is to continuously improve the platform, strengthening its scientific robustness and its ability to support data-driven decision-making in urban green management.
